Tailgates have come to an end, we have already experienced our first snow fall here in Michigan and a collectivism of students’ Canada Goose jackets have come out, marking the beginning of the cold winter (Babin & Harris, 184). As the cold breeze blows in, so does the end of the semester due dates for final exams and final projects. As a we prepare for the end of the semester, this next month is always the hardest to get through. Sacrificing our Thursday nights at Skeeps to study at Ross and using Roger Hub’s “Final Exam Calculator” to tell us what we need in order to receive our desired grades. The last things on our busy minds is fashion. As we trade in our trendy ripped jeans for something more practical, the campus seems to have conformed with mundane colors and identical outfits (Babin & Harris, 159). You may not be familiar with haute couture designers and I don’t think anyone on the Ann Arbor campus is strutting out of Starbucks in an Alexander McQueen gown. However, if you’re anything like me, you’re always looking for a fashionable way to make comfort look like it came right off the runway. Whether or not you refer to yourself as a fashionista or are just looking for something new to individualize yourself while walking through the diag, here are some great pieces for the cold weather (Babin & Harris, 184). As Jon Snow says, “Winter is coming.”
ASOS
One brand that I
love for the use of diversity and inclusion of all races and sizes is ASOS that
provides a healthy body and self-esteem to all customers (Babin & Harris, 125).
ASOS is an online fashion and beauty store originated in the United Kingdom.
ASOS sells over 850 brands and with a plethora of choices so many men and
women are bound to find something they love on the website. Scrolling through their
store can take days, but with their choices to limit the options based off of
size, color and item creates a lot of convenience for their customers (Babin & Harris, 75). If you’re
tired of seeing the norm of black jackets while walking to class, change it up
with this amazing red puffer that is functional and fun (Babin & Harris,
180). Click here to find more details on this jacket.
ZARA
Winter is all
about layering to keep yourself warm and something as simple as a scarf has the
ability to elevate your outfit from drab to fab in seconds. Zara is another one
of my favorite brands that recreates high fashion designs for the fast fashion
industry at a reasonable price. Zara is great place to find amazing pieces for
your wardrobe whether or not you are a value conscious consumer (Babin &
Harris, 115). Throw one of these oversized scarves on top of your jacket and
you’re set for the tundra of the Midwest. Click here for more details on
these scarves.
Jeffrey Campbell
It seems as
though when Halloween ended the weather went from clear days to rainy and gloom
days. Whether the rain is pouring down or the snow falls to runoff water, shoes
are an important aspect to keep in mind in these situations (Babin &
Harris, 95). To keep your toes from getting wet and insulating your feet with
warmth, the motivation for these trendy rain boots are perfect (Babin &
Harris, 90). Straight off of the website of Jeffrey Campbell, who is known for
his wild shoes designs and pushing the boundaries of what a shoe can do, these
rain boots are only $55. Not only is this an amazing deal, but you are also avoiding
the “basic” knee-high Hunter boots. Just one question: Can Jeffrey Campbell
ever do any wrong? Click here to find more details on these boots.
Hopefully these key items will help get you through the long winter and keep you warm. Just because our lives are getting busier and the weather is getting colder, fashion doesn't have to take a backseat. It's all about finding the right balance between comfort and fashion that can have you feeling stylish on a daily basis. Until next time!
XOXO,
Olivia
